Wisdom of Athena: RTP 96.07%, the 4,000x Ante Cap and a Peso Reading of the Paytable

Short answer: Wisdom of Athena is a Pragmatic Play “pay anywhere” slot released on 26 June 2023. Its standard RTP is 96.07%, its maximum win is 5,000x the bet, and Pragmatic lists a hit frequency of 26.46%. The detail most players miss sits in the game’s own server data: with Ante Bet switched on, the cap is written as 4,000x. That is not a smaller prize. Ante raises the total bet to 1.25x, and 4,000 × 1.25 = 5,000, so the ceiling stays at exactly 5,000 times the base bet. Ante costs more per spin, lifts RTP by only 0.01 point, and changes the ceiling only when you measure it against the bigger stake.
This guide reads the official numbers in pesos, converts the paytable into multiples of your bet and adds a labelled sample of 1,100 spins from Pragmatic Play’s free demo server. Facts come from Pragmatic’s own pages and demo data; anything we calculated is marked as our calculation, and anything we could not confirm is marked unverified. The official numbers and where each one comes from
Three primary sources were used. Pragmatic Play’s official game page describes the 8-symbol pay-anywhere rule, the tumble feature, the extra reel revealed by tumbles, 10 free spins with held multipliers, and the 96.07% RTP. The pragmaticplay.fun game profile, which Pragmatic operates for players, adds the release date, bet range, hit frequency, max win, Ante Bet and Bonus Buy flags. Finally, the official demo server (game code vs20procount) sends a configuration block when the game opens, which includes three RTP figures, the win caps and the full paytable.

One caution before using any of this: Pragmatic supplies the same title to operators in several RTP versions. The figures above describe the standard 96.07% build. The only number that applies to your session is the RTP shown in the game’s own information screen at the site where you play.
Why the Ante cap reads 4,000x and not 5,000x
The demo game data lists two ceilings: 5,000 for normal play and 4,000 for Ante play. Read in isolation, that looks like a penalty. It is a change of unit. With Ante on, a ₱10 base bet becomes a ₱12.50 total bet. Our calculation:
- Normal play: 5,000 × ₱10 = ₱50,000 maximum.
- Ante play: 4,000 × ₱12.50 = ₱50,000 maximum.
The peso ceiling is identical. What Ante changes is the price of every spin and, according to the demo data, the odds of reaching that ceiling: the listed frequency improves from about 1 in 2,169,197 rounds to about 1 in 1,470,588. Both numbers describe a result so rare that no realistic session should be planned around it.
The paytable in multiples of your bet
The demo data stores pay values in coins for a 20-line bet; dividing by 20 gives multiples of the total bet. Symbol names are not included in that data, so the rows below are value tiers from highest to lowest. A win needs at least 8 identical symbols anywhere on the grid.

Scatter symbols pay separately: 4 Scatters pay 2x, 5 pay 15x and 6 or more pay 100x the bet, again from the demo paytable.
The useful reading is in the bottom-left corner. Five of the nine tiers pay less than the bet for the minimum 8-symbol cluster. At ₱10 a spin, eight of the lowest symbol return ₱2.50, so the screen celebrates a “win” while the balance is ₱7.50 lower. This is why a 26.46% hit frequency does not mean one spin in four is profitable. An 8-symbol cluster beats the stake only in the top three tiers (the fourth returns exactly the bet); the other tiers need a bigger cluster, several wins chained by tumbles, or a multiplier.
Tumbles and the extra reel
After each win, the winning symbols disappear and new ones fall in; Pragmatic’s page says each tumble “helps to reveal an extra reel”. In the demo data the grid is reported as 6 columns by 6 rows, and at the start of a base-game spin the six positions of the top row are filled with a locked placeholder. In our sample those positions opened progressively as tumbles occurred during the same spin, which adds room for more symbols in a long tumble chain. In free spins, Pragmatic states that the progress towards the unlocked reel is held through all later spins. The exact number of tumbles needed for each step is not published on the official pages we read, so we do not state one.
Free spins: 10 spins with multipliers that are kept
The official description says the free spins round awards 10 spins, that multipliers landed during the round are held for the rest of it, and that more than one multiplier can be added to the total. That changes how a round develops compared with base play: a multiplier collected on spin 2 can still apply on spin 9.
Hypothetical example (₱10 bet, not a real result): in spin 3 a 5x multiplier lands on a winning spin, and in spin 6 a 3x lands on another. If the round keeps a running total, wins from spin 6 onward are multiplied by 8x. A ₱15 tumble win in spin 8 would then pay ₱120. The same ₱15 win in spin 2 would have paid ₱15. The order in which multipliers arrive therefore matters as much as their size. Pragmatic does not publish how often each multiplier value lands, so the average value of a round cannot be derived from the official pages.

Our calculation: theoretical loss = amount staked × (1 − RTP). Per spin, Ante raises the expected cost by about 25% (₱0.393 to ₱0.490) because the RTP barely moves while the stake grows by a quarter. Buying the bonus and playing 100 normal spins have almost the same theoretical cost, ₱39.20 against ₱39.30. The difference is variance: a buy puts ₱1,000 on the outcome of one 10-spin round, and that round can return much less than its price. These figures are long-run averages over very many rounds, not a forecast for one session.
Our demo sample: 1,100 paid spins
To show what the official numbers look like in practice, we ran 1,100 paid spins on Pragmatic Play’s free demo server on 15 October 2026, using demo credits only, a 2.00 bet (coin 0.10 × 20), Ante off and no Bonus Buy. Tumbles and free spins were not counted as extra spins; every count below was reconciled with the change in the demo balance.

Two things stand out. First, the hit rate in our sample, 26.73%, is close to Pragmatic’s 26.46%, yet more than half of those winning spins (165 of 294) paid back less than the 2.00 bet. That matches the paytable reading above. Second, the sample finished above its stake, at 106.3%, for one reason: a single free spins round paid 372.9x. Remove that round and the other 1,099 spins returned 1,592.70 on 2,198.00 staked, about 72%. This is what “volatility” looks like in practice, even in a game Pragmatic labels low volatility: most of the money in a short session comes from a handful of rounds, and a different 1,100 spins could just as easily end far below the stake. The five rounds we saw also show the spread inside the feature itself, from 17.5x to 372.9x for the same 10 spins. At ₱10 a spin, a ₱1,000 Bonus Buy would have returned between ₱175 and ₱3,729 on these five examples, which is why a buy is a decision about variance rather than about value.
